Antique Boxes
We have antique boxes in various materials. Most are English and date from the 18th and 19th centuries. These include simple yet elegant wood boxes, some with decorative inlay in brass or mother-of-pearl, with many fitted for jewelry or sewing implements.
Also available are glass boxes with gilded mounts, some in beautiful colors of opaline glass. Many are in brilliant colors of Bohemian glass, with or without painted decoration, including some by Moser. Some of these glass boxes are fitted for sets of 2 or more scent bottles.
We have writing slopes, sometimes called lap desks, that were made for traveling, with compartments for papers, pens & nibs, as well as spaces for small inkwells. Some of these also have candleholders that store inside the lap desk when not in use. Also available are stationery chests that can sit on a desk – practical today for organizing bills, greeting cards, stamps, etc. Or keep one on a desk near a laptop computer to house flash drives, blank CD’s to burn, and miscellaneous accessories.
Some antique boxes without interior fittings can provide decorative storage solutions. They can be used to store remote controls for audio/video equipment or easily convert for use as humidors for favorite cigars.
Some types of boxes we typically stock include:
*Jewelry * Sewing * Cutlery * Dressing Cases * Straw-work * Glass * Apothecary *
